Motive - Burn Down Brooklyn

Os norte americanos Motive são Nicholas Wold, David Leondi, Andrew McGovern e Christopher Bagamery, uma banda rock natural de Brooklyn, Nova Iorque, que se prepara para lançar, no início de 2014, o disco de estreia, depois de em outubro de 2010 terem editado um EP homónimo.

Após o lançamento desse EP, surgiram alguns singles, mas o tema que tem feito furor e colocado os Motive debaixo dos radares é Burn Down Brooklyn, uma canção disponibilizada gratuitamente e que fará parte do alinhamento do tal disco de estreia.

Há quem já os apelide de The Strokes II, devido a uma questão de imagem, postura e atitude, mas também por causa da genuína sonoridade rock que sustenta as suas canções, feito com guitarras que combinam o melhor grunge de Seattle nos anos noventa, com o indie rock nova iorquino do início deste século.

A propósito desta canção, dos Motive e da sua carreira, entrei em contacto com eles recentemente para saber mais detalhes e recebi de Nicholas a seguinte delcaração:

Burn Down Brooklyn' started as a song about how Brooklyn is a den of bohemian lifestyle and sin, and how we should be burned down like Sodom. It was kind of funny and sarcastic, but is also about another feeling, the feeling that you sometimes need to burn everything down in yourself and start fresh. Something that everyone in New York feels at some point. Hope that sheds some light into the song. Our previous EP was our first time working with a producer and we're really happy with how it came out and represented where we were when it was recorded, but lately we've been trying some avenues with writing and we're very excited about the writing process these days. As for the future of the band, we are currently touring the entire US and working on our first album, to come out in 2014, and creating a whole lot of crazy sounds that we can't wait to share with you, so keep your ears peeled. Hopefully when it comes out we will come to Europe and play for you!
